Born Artur Hennig in Leipzig, Germany, died in Duisberg, Weimar, Germany.

1896 – FIRST man to press over 300 lb. with one arm with a Bent Press of 308 lb.

1897 – Bent Press of 286 lb. at age 19.

02-26-1898 – Grand Music Hall in Sheffield, England. Sandow challenged Saxon.

10-??-1904 – He paid a visit to Donald Dinnie and, using Dinnie’s weights, Bent Pressed 340.5 lb., thus gaining Dinnie’s support and praise.

01-04-1905 – London, England. Best OFFICIAL Bent Press of 336.75 lb.

12-12-1905 – Stuttgart, Germany. Saxon did the following in official competition:

“A Two Hands Anyhow” of 448 lbs. (Bent Pressing a 336 lb. barbell with his right hand, and then pulling in and pressing to arm’s length overhead a 112 lb. kettlebell, with his left hand!!!)

He also did a “Bent Press” of 370 lbs. to straight arm, but could not stand erect.

01-28-1906 – London, England. Bent Pressed 353 lb. six separate times but could not stand erect. He was lifting inside a boxing ring and was witnessed by Thomas Inch.

07-23-1906 – Apollo’s School in London, England. Bent Pressed 386 lb. Bill Klein witnessed and weighed it.

At other times he Bent Pressed 371 lbs.(record?), unofficial reports of him bent pressing 409.5 lbs., and Clean and Pressed 342 lbs.

“Military Press” (2 hands) 252 lbs.

“Military Press” (1 hand) 126 lbs.

“Jerk” (1 arm) 247.5 lbs.

Donald Dinnie, the legendary Scottish athlete stated, “For pure strength, Arthur Hennig has never been equaled.”
